Soon-to-be USC senior Andrew Levitt of Ladera Ranch defeated Torey Edwards of Long Beach 12-and-10 in Sunday's 36-hole final

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Soon-to-be USC senior Andrew Levitt of Ladera Ranch defeated Torey Edwards of Long Beach 12-and-10 in Sunday's 36-hole final at the Long Beach Match Play Championship. Levitt, the three-seed in the 64-player match play event, cruised into Sunday's championship match with a 5-and-4 victory on Saturday afternoon against longshot Darren Saqui, a former Cal State Fullerton golfer. Saqui, of Cerritos, was the 63-seed and secured a 19-hole win in the opening round over two-seed Matt Murphy. Medalist Austin Amaya of Yorba Linda, who reached Saturday afternoon's semifinal match, fell to Edwards by a slim margin of one-up. Two weekends ago, Amaya posted rounds of 70-66 at Skylinks Golf Course to secure the No. 1 seed heading into the match play portion of the tournament.
