Round of 32 set for Neb. Match Play

The round of 32 is set at the Nebraska Match Play Championship in Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Neb. (June 25, 2013) - The top 10 seeds in the 46th Nebraska Match Play Championship advanced to the Round of 32 following Tuesday's first round at Elks Country Club. No. 1 seed Nick Vondrak automatically qualified for the match play portion of the tournament following last year's runner-up finish and opened his 2013 performance with a 5&4 win over John Thomas in the first match of the day. Lance Lawson (pictured), who posted the best stroke play score on Monday with a 67, battled Wesley Bernt to 22 holes before emerging victorious. No. 54 seed Cale Benson posted the biggest upset of the day in a 2&1 win over No. 11 seed Alex Pieper. The Round of 32 starts on Wednesday at 8 a.m., with the Round of 16 scheduled for 2 p.m. A link to the tournament bracket can be found above.
