Rotz wins Cardinal Amateur

Clayton Rotz of Chambersburg, PA held an eight shot lead with one round left, his final round 75 still provided a 3-shot cushion

GREENBORO, NC (August 16, 2009) -- After firing an amazing 64 in the first round of the Cardinal Amateur, Clayton Rotz kept the red figures going, posting a second round 69 good for a 36-hole total of 133 and an eight stroke lead. Just one day shy of his 21st birthday, Rotz posted a 75 in the last round, winning the tournament by three strokes at 2-under 208 at the par 70, 7002 Cardinal Country Club. Rotz is about to enter his Junior year at LSU. Drew Younts of Stokesdale, NC finished solo second at 1-over 211.
