Ron Carter fires 67 to take lead at Jones Cup Senior

SEA ISLAND, Georgia (March 5, 2013) -- Ron Carter fired a second-round 67 and takes a one-shot lead over the field at the 2013 Jones Cup Senior Invitational. At Sea Island's Seaside Course, Carter opened play Monday with a 75 but shot the tournament's low round in Round 2 to take the lead. Carter leads a trio of contenders by one shot. Vern Spurlock, Rocky Costa and Cliff Brown are all tied for second place at 3-over for the event. Mike Bodney (T-5), Rick Cloninger (T-8) and defending champion Doug Hanzel (T-8) are all within contention entering the final round of the 54-hole invitational event inaugurated in 2012 that aims to follow in the footsteps of the Jones Cup, a prestigious event that unofficially kicks off the amateur circuit each year.
