SEASIDE, Calif. — Robby Salomon is certainly on a roll.
The 26-year-old CSU-Monterey Bay golfer captured the NCGA Stroke Play Championship at Poppy Hills last week, winning by five over Patrick Soli.
Now on Sunday, playing a course he knows well, he was victorious again.
The inaugural Bayonet Black Horse Amateur went to Salomon as the Portola Valley native birdied the final hole at the Bayonet course to win by four shots over University of San Diego senior Skyler Finnell and UOP sophomore Drew Bender. Salomon posted rounds of 70, 72, and 71 at the difficult track and was the only player to not post a round over par during the 54-hole event.
Finnell, a Carmel native, shot 72 on Sunday to share second place with Bender, of Danville, four behind Salomon. The pair were a stroke clear of Bender's Pacific teammate S.J. Maeng, who posted a final-round 71 to jump into the top-five.
Second-round co-leader Brandon Wu, who will begin his collegiate career this fall as a member of the Stanford Cardinal, struggled to a 78 on Sunday and settled for a tie for sixth place alongside Salomon's former teammate Nick Huff.
