Robbins-Childress open the Carolinas Four-Ball with a 61

Following the completion of stroke play qualifying on Thursday play will switch over to match play with the top-32 teams advancing

CAMDEN, SC (May 3, 2017) - After day one of stroke play qualifying at the Carolinas Four-Ball hosted by Camden Country Club it is the team of Michael Childress and Lansdon Robbins pacing the field. The lead duo opened with a bogey-free 9-under 61 and they will take a two shot cushion into Thursday's final round of stroke play qualifying. Childress and Robbins started nicely with a front nine 2-under 33 before exploding on the back nine with seven birdies, including five straight to end their round. The only holes they didn't birdie on the second nine were Nos. 11 and 13. Paul Tucker and Brent Roof; Ryan Marter and Jack Parrott are tied for second place at 7-under while Shane Rogan and Bobby Few; James Lightsey Jr. and Thomas Rea; Justin Hood and Jake McBride; Todd Eckstein and Bob Fulton share fourth at 6-under. Following the completion of stroke play qualifying on Thursday play will switch over to match play with the top-32 teams advancing. On Friday the field will play the Rounds of 32 and 16, the quarterfinals and semifinals will be played Saturday before the title match is played Sunday.
