Richardson-McNeill defend North Carolina Four-Ball Title

Jerry Richardson and Jd McNeill began the final round two shots off the pace

RALEIGH, NC (October 15, 2017) - Jerry Richardson of Cary, NC and Jd McNeill of Raleigh, NC shot a final round 7-under 64 to finish 19-under and capture the 22nd NC Four-Ball Championship hosted by TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, NC. The defending champions, Richardson and McNeill, went into the final round trailing by two shots but quickly went to work by birding three of their first four holes. Adding one more birdie on the front the pair took a one-shot lead over second-round leaders, Sherrill Britt of West End, NC and Dale Ring of Carthage, NC, into the back nine. "We tried to stay aggressive coming in because there are birdie chances out here and they were making some putts on top of us," said Richardson of their final nine. After a bogey on No. 17 by Britt and Ring, Richardson and McNeill took a two-shot lead into 18. With their 22nd birdie on their 54th hole, the pair put an exclamation mark on the win. "We knew coming into the week if we played well we had a chance, we just play well together in these types of events," said Richardson about their victory. 36-HOLE RECAP Sherrill Britt of West End, NC and Dale Ring of Carthage, NC backed up their opening round 8-under 63 with a second round 6-under 65 to reach 14-under. The duo had six birdies on their day and after consecutive bogey-free rounds the pair sits atop the North Carolina Four-Ball standings. The duo will head into the final round at TPC at Wakefield Plantation with a two shot lead over defending champions Jerry Richardson of Cary, NC and Jd McNiell of Raleigh, NC. Richardson and McNiell who birdied six-times en route to their second round 4-under 67 are 12-under after 36-holes of play. Chris Cassetta and John Major; Jason Smith and Zachary Truesdale are tied for third at 10-under while Daniel Neveu and Ryan Fox; Conner Sock and Trey Broome; Brian Gauley and Mark Gauley are 9-under in a tie for fifth.
