BANDON, Oregon (April 17, 2017) -- The longest running tournament at Bandon Dunes Resort concluded today at the original Bandon Dunes course. AmateurGolf.com founded the Two Man Links Championship in 2002, and it has been run continually since that first year. We've seen new courses added, as Bandon Dunes has become the top golf destination in the United States.
Today, first-timers Kyle Rector and Andrew Sherman closed out their 54-hole win with a 2-under 70, and a tournament total of 6-under 214. Rector and Sherman grew up playing high school golf in Carlsbad, Calif. - hometown of AmateurGolf.com.
Two shots back of the winners in second place was the Oakland, Calif. team of Dave Cannon and Bob Burnett. At 4-under, the Cannon Burnett team also won the simultaneously-held senior championship. One stroke back in third was 6-time past champs Sherman Haggerty and Ben Whipple.
In the Net Division, brothers Mike and Steve Suttman closed out the tournament with a 9-under 63, winning the Net title by a single stroke over father/son team Charles and Mason Mazzola. The Suttmans finished at 15-under 199. In third place was another first-time team, Jeff DeLarme and Steve Balzano of Palos Verdes, Calif.
The tournament will return to Bandon Dunes in April or May of 2018, and we are always interested in finding new teams from around the world to compete.
