Quarterfinals set at San Francisco City Women's Championship

The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held Saturday before the 36-hole championship match is contested on Sunday

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 12, 2017) -- Leading the way into the San Francisco City Women's quarterfinals is defending champion and medalist Sabrina Iqbal. Playing as the top-seed at TPC Harding Park Iqbal handled No. 16 Jacqueline Yuen 6&4.

Iqbal took control of the match early with victories on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes to open a 3 up lead that she never relinquished.

She will now face nine-seed Sammy Lee who advanced with a 20 hole triumph over No. 8 Gia Feliciano in the Round of 16.

Outside of Iqbal not one of the higher seeds advanced. The upsets even included 15-seed Kiran Sangha besting No. 2 Carissa Wu 3&1. With the match all-square through 12 holes, Sangha won the 13th, 14th and 17th holes to advance.

The San Francisco City Championship continues on Saturday with the quarterfinals and semifinals. The 36-hole championship match will follow on Sunday.
