Pereira leads Huskies to shared victory at host tournament

This year's Sahalee Players champion Corey Pereira paced his Washington Huskies to a tied-for-first finish alongside Oregon in Suncadia

SUNCADIA, Wash. — Half of the Pac-12 Conference was on hand in Suncadia, Wash. at the Tumble Creek Golf Club for the Husky Invitational, hosted by the Huskies of the University of Washington. Led by junior Corey Pereira, the Huskies won their host tournament in a share of first place with Oregon, who were paced by their superstar Aaron Wise, as well as Sulman Raza. Pereira, winner of the 2014 Pacific Coast Amateur and 2015 Sahalee Players Championship, won the individual title at 7-under 206, playing steady golf through the two-day, 54-hole event. With rounds of 69-68-69, Pereira finished on top of the leaderboard by a stroke over USC's Sean Crocker. Oregon's Wise, the reigning Pacific Coast Amateur champion, placed third for the Ducks while redshirt junior Raza took fifth as Oregon finished tied with Washington at 13-over par. Oregon State, led by junior Conner Kumpula, took third place four back of the co-champions and a stroke ahead of the fourth-place Trojans.
