JACKSONVILLE, FL (May 7, 2017) - With a closing even-par 72 Patrick Christovich has won the Timuquana Cup Invitational by two shots. After beginning the day tied for the lead Christovich played a steady final round at Timuquana Country Club to finish 4-over and in front of runner-up Butler Melnyk.
On Sunday Christovich began his round with three straight pars before carding the first of his of his two birdies of the round on the 4th hole as he shot a a pair of even-par 36 sides. The additional birdie came on No. 12 while the bogeys were carded on the 6th and 13th holes.
Following the bogey on No. 13 the 2016 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball runner-up tightened things up and played par golf the remainder of the way.
"Its been a three a three-year drought, Christovich told Global Golf Post of his win. "I made changes that I didn't need to make, and so I had to simplify things."
Butler Melnyk was second at 6-over, Nick Gilliam posted 8-over to finish third while Derek Camps and defending champion Joseph Deraney shared fourth at 9-over.
Chris Tuten who had a part of the lead after each of the first two days struggled during the final shooting a 5-over 77 to finish 9-over and share sixth.
