Heavy rains force match between Al Dickens, IV and David Donovan, IV to be rescheduled

WALLACE, N.C. (August 3, 2014) — The North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship final match between Al Dickens, IV and David Donovan, IV has been rescheduled for Friday, August 8 at noon at River Landing's Landing Course. Heavy rains in the area forced tournament officials to suspend, and eventually cancel Sunday's final match. Saturday Recap Unless your last name starts with a “D” and you are the fourth generation in a family name, then you had no chance to advance to the North Carolina Amateur Match Play championship finals. Al Dickens, IV of Charlotte will face David Donovan, IV of Hampstead on Sunday morning at River Landing. Dickens, IV a redshirt junior at East Carolina University, cruised past Stanhope Johnson, Jr. of Greensboro 5-and-3 in the quarterfinals. Then he faced rising College of Charleston freshman Philip Oweida of Charlotte in a tight semifinal match-up.
