New York State Four-Ball: Kircher, Mercier win playoff

COOPERSTOWN, NY (May 20, 2014) -- John Kircher and Michael Mercier shot rounds of 67-70 and defeated Billy Hanes sand Jamie Miller in a playoff to win the 2014 New York State Golf Association Four-Ball Championship. At Leatherstocking Golf Course, Kircher and Mercier shot a final-round 70 to forge a tie atop the leaderboard with the first-round leaders. On the second playoff hole -- the 6th at Leatherstocking -- Kircher and Mercier managed a birdie to win outright. Hanes and Miller carded rounds of 66-71 before falling in the playoff, taking sole position of second place. Bob Rosen and Billy Gaffney were third with rounds of 68-70 while the teams of Jonathan Clark and Matt Stasiak (70-69) and Chad Stoffer and Jimmy Welch (67-73) rounded out the Top 5, respectively. Stasiak and Clark won the title in 2013. In the Senior Division, Paul Hart and Kevin Broderick prevailed in a three-team playoff, winning on the fourth extra hole. The winners (73-70) finished tied with the teams of Don Van Gorder and James Rogers (75-68) and Paul Parrone and Bob Weston (72-71) and won on the 18th hole during the playoff.
