NCGA Four Ball: Orr & Roak take the lead

RC Orr and Scott Roak shoot ten under and lead by five after the first round. Defending champs in second place

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (May 20, 2011) -- After the first round at Spyglass Hill the talented duo of RC Orr and Scott Roak took a commanding lead in the 45th Annual NCGA Four-Ball Championship. Orr and Roak carded an impressive 10-under par 62 that included 10 birdies, and four straight on the first four holes; they enjoy a five-stroke lead on the rest of the field. Five teams are tied for second place at 5-under par including defending champions Randy Haag and Darryl Donovan. Haag and Donovan fired an impressive 4-under 32 on the back nine scoring birdies on 11, 12, 14 and 18. The other four teams at 5-under include Russell Humphrey and Anthony Barrera, Dave Swanson and Craig Miyamoto, Jon Peterson and Eddie Davis, and Kevin Stillian and Danny Gums. This popular three-day championship is four-ball stroke play with 18 holes per day. At the conclusion of tomorrow’s rounds a cut will be made with the low 40 teams and ties qualifying for Sunday play.
