PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (May 20, 2011) -- After the first round at Spyglass Hill the talented duo of RC Orr and Scott Roak took a commanding lead in the 45th Annual NCGA Four-Ball Championship.
Orr and Roak carded an impressive 10-under par 62 that included 10 birdies, and four straight on the first four holes; they enjoy a five-stroke lead on the rest of the field.
Five teams are tied for second place at 5-under par including defending champions Randy Haag and Darryl Donovan. Haag and Donovan fired an impressive 4-under 32 on the back nine scoring birdies on 11, 12, 14 and 18. The other four teams at 5-under include Russell Humphrey and Anthony Barrera, Dave Swanson and Craig Miyamoto, Jon Peterson and Eddie Davis, and Kevin Stillian and Danny Gums.
This popular three-day championship is four-ball stroke play with 18 holes per day. At the conclusion of tomorrow’s rounds a cut will be made with the low 40 teams and ties qualifying for Sunday play.
