National Senior Hall of Fame: Lee wins first

Stan Lee follows up Hall of Fame induction with tournament win

HIGH POINT, N.C. (June 24, 2011) -– Stan Lee never felt like he had a firm grip on his game throughout the tournament. He struggled at times, but he still found a way to hang on and post three good scores. Down the stretch, that was the difference in Friday’s final round of the National Senior Amateur Hall of Fame tournament at High Point County Club’s Willow Creek Course. Lee, of Tumbling Shoals, Ark., overcame a three-shot deficit with five holes to play to become just the third player to be inducted in the Hall of Fame and win the tournament in the same week. “I am just ecstatic to win a national event,” said Lee, 58, with a grin. “I got inducted into the Hall of Fame the other night. So, even if I played horrible, it would’ve been a great week. “But to win this event after getting inducted is beyond my wildest dreams. It’s great.” Read more: High Point Enterprise - Hall of Fame performance
