SCOTTSDALE, AZ (May 13, 2016) - After 36-holes at the Whisper Rock Golf Club Ben Hayes and Taylor Woods hold a one-stroke lead over the team of Kris Marshall and Andrew Price. Hayes, playing on his home course, and Woods have put together rounds of 65-69 to sit at 10-under and have led following each of the first two rounds at the 2016 National Invitational at Whisper Rock.
Marshall and Price moved into solo second place at 9-under after firing the round of the day on Friday, a 7-under 65 as they followed up their Thursday 2-under 70. Jonas Mikals and Nick Wood have shot back-to-back 68's and will begin tomorrow's final round 8-under, just two-strokes behind and in third place.
In all 23 teams made the 36-hole cut that came at even-par and will play in tomorrow's final round.
SENIOR DIVISION
2012 winners Jerry Hudgins and Mike Rice are 8-under after 36-holes and will carry a one-stroke lead into tomorrow's final day of play. Hudgins and Rice have combined for back-to-back 4-under 68's.
Two teams are hot on the heels of the leaders. Bill Jackson and George Zahringer; Chip Lutz and David Nelson are tied for second at 7-under. The teams of Balatti and Randy Haag; Tom Musselman and Jim Volpenhein are only one shot further back at 6-under sharing fourth place.
Like the mid-amateur division the senior division cut came at even-par as well and 23 teams will be around for the final 18-holes.
