Silvia Rosenberger of Breman, Germany had one chance to make a 60-foot putt and win $25,000. As you can guess, she jarred it and the crowd went wild.
It was a fitting way to end regulation at the Myrtle Beach World Amateur.
The World Am flights more than 3,000 players into nine divisions – men 49 and under, senior men (50-59), mid-senior men (60-69), super senior men (70-79), seasoned seniors (80+), women 49 and under, the gross division, senior (50+) gross division. At the conclusion of Thursday’s fourth round, all flight winners and ties advanced to the Flight Winner’s Playoff at Barefoot Resort’s Dye Course, where a World Champion will be crowned.
“I played solid. My putter worked out,” Rector said of his 4-under total for 72 holes. “It took me a couple days to adjust to the Bermuda greens but I figured it out.”
