Monterey City: Decker, Boyns take titles

Michael Decker accumulated a record-setting 14-under par total in winning the 65th annual Monterey City Amateur Championship by eight shots at Del Monte Golf Course

MONTEREY, Calif. (July 7, 2014) -- Michael Decker accumulated a record-setting 14-under par total in winning the 65th annual Monterey City Amateur Championship by eight shots at Del Monte Golf Course. Decker, who plays at Vanderbilt, carded rounds of 69-65-68 to prevail over a solid field. Nick Moore shot rounds of 69-72-69 to finish alone in second but eight shots off the impressive pace set by Decker. Regina De Guzman carded rounds of 74-68-72 to take solo third. Casey Boyns prevailed in the senior championship, firing rounds of 74-69, to win by five shots. Boyns also finished inside the Top 10 in the Championship Flight. Scott Anderson shot 72-76 to take second place, finishing one shot up on Jim Knoll (76-73).
