Mike Occi goes low in final round to win SOS Spring Classic

Michael Occi of Maryland fired 68 on day three at the Society of Seniors Spring Classic to squeeze by second-round leader Murphy Mitchell

FT. MYERS, Fla. — Mike Occi of Columbia, Md. captured the 2014 Kingsway Senior Invitational, and came close to winning twice already in 2015 with top-fives at the Kingsway and Gateway. With a final-round 68 on Wednesday at The Verandah Club in Ft. Myers, Occi grabbed another victory, this time at the Society of Seniors Spring Classic. Occi opened with 72-73 and trailed second-round leader Mitchell Murphy of Scottsdale, Ariz. by four entering the final round. Mitchell shot 73 while Occi went low — 68 — which was just enough to squeeze past him for the win. Mitchell took second place by six shots over three players tied for third, including Bob Stephens, Mike Jackson, and Sam Till.
