SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Oct. 5, 2014) — A first-round 75 didn't stop Andrew McCain from still thinking he could win the Midwest Amateur Classic. Despite trailing after the first round by two, a day which was marked with rain, sleet, and even some snow, McCain fought back to claim a one-shot victory.
On Sunday's 27-hole finale, McCain shot three-under 69 followed by a two-under 33, in much better weather, to jump into the lead for good. He finished one stroke ahead of Glenn Przybylski, who despite a 65 in the morning 18 shot three-over 38 to give away his lead.
Paul Dagys and Eric Izzo shared the opening-round lead at 73, but finished in third and fifth place, respectively.
