ST. ALBANS, Missouri (July 12, 2008) --Ballwin's Scott Langley fired a 4-under par 66 to force a playoff at the 3rd Metropolitan Open at the Country Club of St. Albans Saturday. Langley and Florida mini-tour professional Justin McCarraher each completed the 54-hole championship at 4-under par 206. Langley, a sophomore at the University of Illinois, made all pars in the four-hole playoff to win by two shots. Four golfers tied for third at 1-under par 209 - amateurs Darren Lundgren (72-70-67-209), Mitchell Gregson (69-70-70-209) and St. Louis club professionals Bob Gaus (72-68-69-209) and Steve Hausmann (71-69-69-209). Langley forced a playoff by birdieing St. Albans' 480-yard par-4 18th hole. After a 350-yard drive, Langley hit his approach shot to within five inches of the hole for a tap-in birdie. Moments after his playoff victory, the 2008 Big 10 Conference freshman of the year exited St. Albans to catch a flight for next week's USGA Amateur Public Links Championship in Colorado.
