Medalist ousted as New Jersey Mid-Amateur semifinals are set

Tom Collins, who was the No. 1 seed heading into match play, lost 8-and-6 to 16-seed Dan Levinson

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (Sept. 23, 2014) — After shooting 69 in the 18-hole qualifying for the New Jersey Mid-Amateur and earning the No. 1 seed for match play, Tom Collins was handed a heavy defeat — 8-and-6 — by 16-seed Dan Levinson. Levinson went on to lose in the quarterfinals to Jason Bataille 4-and-2. Bataille will face Pete Barron III in the semifinals starting tomorrow. On the other half of the bracket, defending champion and No. 2 seed Trevor Randolph will face Stephen Ellis. Randolph won both of his matches 2-and-1 on Tuesday while Ellis won 2-and-2 and then squeezed by K.J. Kim one-up in the quarters.
