Medalist, defending champion moving on at Oregon Senior Amateur

Medalist Doug Banks and three-time defending champion Scott Hval are in the round of 16 at the Oregon Senior Amateur

MOLALLA, Ore. (Sept. 23, 2014) — Doug Banks, the medalist, and Scott Hval, the three-time defending champion, are through to the round of 16 at the Oregon Senior Amateur. Banks, who shot 68 and earned the No. 1 seed in a one-hole playoff with Randy Mahar, defeated Kurt Hiersche 7-and-5 in the round of 32, while Hval had a 4-and-3 win over Tom Zupan. Mahar, who also shot 68 in qualifying, lost his opening match to David Lydell on the 18th hole. Banks will face 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur runner-up Pat O'Donnell in the round of 16 on Wednesday. Hval will take on Gregg Guernsey, who won 4-and-3 over Mike Gleason on Tuesday.
