Final-round 71 gives Robert McCusker big win

(August 23, 2014) — Robert McCusker of Baton Rouge fired a one-under par 71 on Saturday to win the 2014 Louisiana Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship at The Bluffs Golf Resort in St. Francisville. McCusker started the final round with a four shot lead and never relinquished it, ultimately winning by five strokes over runner-up Eddie Lyons of Shreveport. McCusker’s final round 71 capped off an impressive three day total of four-under par 212, the only competitor to finish under par for the Championship. McCusker started his round with a bogey on the par 4 1st hole, which is a dogleg left that runs adjacent to the bluff on Thompson Creek. He made three consecutive pars and the made back-to-back birdies at the par 4 5th hole and the par 4 6th hole.
