Mark Morgan posted back-to-back rounds of 69 at Mather Golf Course to win by three over Mitch Harrison

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Mark Morgan posted back-to-back rounds of 69 at the California State Fair Senior Men's Championship, cruising to a three-stroke victory over Mitch Harrison at Mather Golf Course. Morgan led after the first round by one over Harrison, as well as Jeff Burda, and extended that lead to the eventual winning total after another stellar round. Harrison's rounds of 70 and 71 secured him second place by one over Burda, the 2012 champion, who closed with 72. The low round of the tournament went to Greg Durst, who fired 67 in the final round to jump into the top-four, alongside Mike Parnow and Scott Anderson at 144. Defending champion Jim Knoll was in contention after day one at 71 but posted 75 on Sunday and fell back into a tie for ninth place. In the Super Senior division, Bob Thomason carded 69 on Sunday to squeak by Herb Jensen for a one-shot win. The win was in comeback fashion for Thomason, who trailed first-round leader Charles Richesin by five after Saturday.
