Mao leads by two at Georgia Women's Amateur

Northwestern freshman Janet Mao has a two-shot lead with one round remaining at the Georgia Women's Amateur

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The 86th Georgia Women’s Amateur is through 36-holes at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga. Leading the way with rounds of 72,71 is Johns Creek, Ga. native Janet Mao. Mao, an upcoming freshman at Northwestern University, is looking to add the State Amateur to her list of very impressive accomplishments. Mao has won the Georgia Women’s Match Play Championship, the Georgia Junior PGA Championship, and competed in last year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur. Trailing Mao by two shots is Eunice Yi of Evans, Ga. Yi, a member of the Georgia Regents University golf team, has shot rounds of 72 and 73 thus far. Defending champion Brenda Pictor sits in fourth place with rounds of 76-72. The final group is set to tee off just before 10 a.m. local time Wednesday morning.
