Leith, Moren winners at Plumas Lake Amateur

Davis resident Wes Leith won a three-way playoff besting the defending champion. Amateurgolf.com member Peter Moren took the senior division by 3

OAKHURST, Calif. (May 19, 2012) -- Wes Leith of Davis fired an opening round 65 in round one of the Plumas Lake Amateur. He struggled to a 77 in round two and found himself at 142 and in a three-way tie with defending champion, Tanner Makimoto, who shot 142 (76-66) and Vincent Vinard who shot 142 (73-69.) Leith was the victor in the playoff and came away with the title. No playoff was required in the senior division as Peter Moren of Danville was the wire-to-wire winner. Moren opened with a 74 and held a two stroke lead over Dennis Dugan going into round two. Moren finished up with a 78 and a total of 152 again ahead of Moren who carded a 79 and a tournament total of 155. Gerry Valenti took third place at 157 with rounds of 77 an 80.
