Ladies British Amateur: Medalist Beck falls in rd. of 32

Laetitia Beck wins in morning, loses in afternoon match to Gemma Dryburgh 1-up

SANDWICH, England (June 26, 2014) --Stroke play medalist Laetitia Beck of Israel lost in the second round of the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship on Thursday. After dispatching Emma Broze of France 4 & 2 in the round of 64 at the Royal St. George’s Golf Club, Beck could not continue her strong play, and ended up on the losing end of a 1-up decision against Gemma Dryburgh of Scotland. Second-seeded Leslie Cloots of Belgium is now the top-seeded remaining player, after she beat both Dulcie Sverdloff of England and Lauralie Migneaux of France 2 &1 on Thursday. She faces 18-seed Elodie Bridenne of France in the round of 16 on Friday. Out of the 16 remaining players, only three English ladies remain, along with one Scottish competitor. The round of 16 and the quarterfinals will be played on Friday, and the semifinals and finals will be held on Saturday. Prior results and live scoring can be viewed below.
