Duke University junior Amanda Blumenherst earned low-amateur honors at the Kraft Nabisco Championship with a 73-73-73-74--293 (+5) for 30th place. A future Curtis Cup team member, Blumenherst is the reigning two-time National Collegiate Player of the Year, and was the recipient of the 2007 Nancy Lopez Award.
In addition to Blumenherst, two other amateurs made the cut in the LPGA Tour's first major of the season: UCLA freshman and reigning U.S. Women's Amateur champion Maria Jose Uribe (70-74-78-78--300, +12) and University of Kentucky junior Mallory Blackwelder (71-76-76-79=302, +14). Uribe finish tied for 58th and Blackwelder tied for 68th.
Lorena Ochoa was the tournament winner at 11-under-par 277 (68-71-71-67) including final-round 5-under-par 67 on the Dinah Shore Course where she distanced herself from the late-charging duo of Annika Sorenstam (71-70-73-68) and Suzann Pettersen (74-75-65-68), who also tied for second at this event in 2007. Ochoa maintained a bogey-free round with five birdies on holes one, two, eight, nine and 10, where she sealed the deal with a 40-foot birdie putt.
