Knoll Jr. leads after 1st round at Georgia Mid-Am

David Noll Jr. of Dalton, the 2007 Georgia Mid-Amateur Champion and reigning GSGA Player of the Year, fired a 5-under-par 67 to take the lead

DULUTH, Ga. (May 18, 2012) -- David Noll Jr. of Dalton, the 2007 Georgia Mid-Amateur Champion and reigning GSGA Player of the Year, fired a 5-under-par 67 to take the lead after the first round of the Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship. The 31st annual competition is taking place at Berkeley Hills Country Club, May 18-20. Noll leads Chris Waters of Athens by one stroke. Dan McManus of Newnan sits in third at 3-under 69. Noll turned at 1-under, but finished the day with seven birdies, including on four of his last five holes. Berkeley Hills is playing to 6,694 yards and a par 72. The 54-hole Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship was open to male amateur golfers age 25 or older as of today, who belong to a GSGA member club. After 36 holes, the field of 144 will be cut ot the low 70 and ties.
