LA JOLLA, Calif. (July 17, 2014) -- Kaito Onishi, shot one-over 73 on Friday at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships, and will take a one stroke lead into the final round.
Onishi, an Irvine, Calif. resident who will graduate high school in 2017, is four-under 212 through three rounds at Torrey Pines' South Course.
His third round on Friday consisted of four birdies, three bogeys, and a double. He looked to be in trouble, as he was four-over through 12 holes, but rallied back with three birdies in his last six holes to finish at one-over.
Californian and rising high school senior Gordon Neale is in second place at three-under 213 after a third-round three-under 69 that included five birdies and two bogeys. He went birdie-birdie on 17 and 18 to finish out his day on a high note.
52 players made the cut and will play in the final round. 10-over 226 ended up as the magic number.
