K C Fox Prevails at Florida Senior Match Play

Lead by an impressive 6 birdies and an eagle, K C Fox defeated defending champion Pete Williams to win the 10th Florida Senior Match Play.

PLANTATION, FLA. (June 18, 2015) – The Florida Senior Match Play came to an end Thursday at Lago Mar Country Club in Plantation, Florida. K C Fox of Sarasota, Fla. defeated Pete Williams of Juno Beach, Fla. 3 and 2 to capture the championship. The day started off with semifinal matches of K C Fox versus Blake Marshall and Pete Williams versus Rick Woulfe. K C Fox wouldn’t waste much time with his match, winning on the 14th hole 5 and 4 after winning holes 2 through 4 to get out to an early lead. Williams would prevail late in his match against Woulfe, grabbing a 3 up lead through hole 11 and making nothing but pars the rest of the way for a 2 and 1 victory. In the championship match, Williams got off to a great start with a birdie at the first hole and a 2 up lead after 3 holes. Fox turned the tides quickly, however, knocking in an eagle on the par 5 4th hole and following it up with a birdie at the 5th to square to match. The players halved the next 6 holes until a birdie by Fox on the 12th gave him his first lead of the match. Fox didn’t look back after that, making two more birdies and closing out the match on hole 16, 3 & 2.
