K.C. Fox goes wire-to-wire at Ralph Bogart Tournament

Leading by four entering the final round at Crown Colony, KC Fox of Sarasota cruised to victory on Monday in South Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. — K.C. Fox extended his Ralph Bogart Tournament lead from one to four strokes on Sunday, firing 68 on day two at Crown Colony Golf & Country Club. Then he capped off a wire-to-wire win with a 74 on Monday, capturing the championship by two strokes over Marc Fried. Fox was coming off a solid week at the Dixie Senior Amateur, where Ralph Bogart defending champion Rick Woulfe won for the seventh time in his career. Fox finished two back of Woulfe last weekend at the Dixie, taking third place, while Woulfe was not in the field this year to repeat at the Ralph Bogart. After opening with 74, Fried, of Solon, Ohio, improved each round following (72-70) and climbed the leaderboard into the runner-up spot. Ken Larney took third at 218, while Ron Carter and Mike Arnold rounded out the top-five at 219 and 220. In the Super Senior division, Tom Elfers of Loveland, Ohio won a playoff over Richard Alarid at 215, with Alarid, of Santa Fe, N.M., firing 66 on day three to jump on top. Rick Bauch took third place, posting consistent rounds of 73-71-72. In the Grand Masters division, Jerry Jackson of Kokomo, Ind. posted scores of 76-74-74 to win by two shots over Claud Johnston of Ann Arbor, Mich., who was the opening-round leader at 73. Jim Ono of San Jose, Calif. came in third at 228, four back of the winner. All three players at the top of the leaderboard fired 74s in Monday's final round.
