ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Former Central Missouri golfer Joe Migdal, of Ballwin, Mo., went wire-to-wire at the Missouri Stroke Play Championship, shooting a final-round 68 in the afternoon on Thursday to win by three over Travis Mays.
Rounds of 66 and 67 in the first two rounds gave Migdal a one-shot advantage heading to the final day, in which the field would play 36 holes. Right on his tail was 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur runner-up Brad Nurski — a native of St. Joseph.
Nurski closed with 73 and 71 on Thursday as he settled for third place four shots back, while Mays, a former teammate of Migdal, posted 70 and 69 in the third and fourth rounds to keep the pressure on the eventual winner.
