Jeremy Sanchez leads Alameda Commuters with first-round 64

An opening-round 64 gives Jeremy Sanchez of San Mateo a one-stroke lead in a field of over 200 players

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Jeremy Sanchez, 20 of San Mateo, posted 64 on day one of the Alameda Commuters Tournament and owns a one-shot lead heading to Sunday. This 72-hole tournament, held over two weekends at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex in Alameda, has a championship flight field of 204 players this year. Thirty-four players broke par on Saturday, while seven others are at even-par 72 at the Earl Fry North course. Finigan Tilly, a junior in high school from Redwood Shores, is in second place at 65 while Matt Baiardi and Christian Banke are tied for third at 66. Banke is the brother of recent San Francisco City Women's Championship winner Sara Banke. Defending champion Jonathan De Los Reyes struggled on day one, shooting 75 to sit in a tie for 80th place.
