Jacquelyn Eleey claims the Massachusetts Women's Amateur

Jacquelyn Eleey claimed the Massachusetts Women Amateur at GreatHorse Country Club thanks to a 2&1 victory

HAMPDEN, MA (August 11, 2016) -- Jacquelyn Eleey claimed the Massachusetts Women Amateur at GreatHorse Country Club thanks to a 2&1 victory in the championship match over Jennifer Keim. Eleey, a junior at Georgetown, and Keim were all-square until Eleey rolled in a birdie on the 6th hole and took a lead she wouldn't relinquish. The two-time Big East first teamer extended her advantage to 3 up with wins on Nos. 12 and 13, a cushion that proved to be critical. Keim would make things interesting as she won the 13 and 16th holes to draw within 1 down. However, with the match hanging in the balance Eleey took the 17th with a birdie to seal the match. Eleey, who was the Big East Freshman of the Year in 2015, made her run to the title as the nine-seed. She reached the finals with a 1 up semifinal win against Isabel Southard. Eleey again won the 17th hole to take the lead and then closed out the match with a halve on No. 18. The 14-seed Keim made her way to the finals with an upset of two-seed Allison Paik in 19 holes in the semifinals.
