Hudson's 64 gives him early six-shot cushion at Golfweek Senior National Championship

Making nine birdies on day one at Stone Creek was Birmingham's Steve Hudson, who leads by six over three other players

OCALA, Fla. (Jan. 16, 2015) — There was no stopping Steve Hudson on Friday at Stone Creek Golf Club in Ocala. He opened the 2015 Golfweek Senior National Championship with a stunning 64, making nine birdies en route to a six-shot lead after day one. At one point, the Birmingham, Ala. native made four birdies in a row, from holes 13 to 16. Hudson tied for first twice in major senior events in 2014, including at the Senior Porter Cup and Senior Masters. He shared the win with Mike Jackson at the Senior Porter cup while losing in a playoff to Kip Estep at the Senior Masters. Defending champion Steve Sharpe, Jack Hall of Savannah, Ga., and Kelly Roberts of England share second-place at two-under par 70.
