LEWISTON, N.Y. (September 5, 2014) — After heavy rains saturated Niagara Falls Country Club on Friday, the Porter Cup Senior representatives decided to shorten the event to just 36 holes, making second-round co-leaders Steve Hudson and Mike Jackson co-champions.
Hudson (pictured) and Jackson shot 72-70 in the tournament's first 36 holes, finishing the event as co-champions and wining by one stroke.
Hudson is coming off an impressive week at the Canadian Senior Amateur where the Birmingham, Ala. resident finished in third place.
Lars Melander, going 72-71, tied for third place and along with Joel Yunek, who shot 75 on Thursday after a 69 to open the event.
Cy Whitney, who hails from Arizona and was the defending champion, shot 78 in the second round and dropped into a tie for tenth place — five shots behind Hudson and Jackson.
In the Super Senior division, Don Kuehn of Kansas City, Mo. shot his age, 67, in the closing round to win by two shots over Bob Coleman. In August, Kuehn became the oldest golfer to win the Kansas Senior Amateur when he won the event for the third time.
