Hudgins, Harris claim Senior Amateur titles

Jerry Hudgins captured his second Greater Houston Senior Men's Amateur championship and Wayne Harris of Missouri City won the Super Senior Division at Memorial Park Golf Couse.

HOUSTON, TX (OCT. 17, 2010) -- Jerry Hudgins captured his second Greater Houston Senior Men's Amateur championship and Wayne Harris of Missouri City won the Super Senior Division at Memorial Park Golf Couse. The 62-year-old Hudgins, who won this championship in 2006, broke par all three rounds, shooting 69-70-69 for an 8-under-par 208 total. Defending champion Hunter Nelson finished 4 shots back. Nelson also recorded three rounds under par, 71-70-71—212. The top 10 finishers are exempt for the 2011 championship. Other exempt competitors: Mike Booker of The Woodlands (73-73-67—213), David Pocknall of Katy (72-67-76—215), Richard Williams of Montgomery (72-73071—212), Robert McKinney (75-70-73—218), Steve Cribari of The Woodlands (74-72-74—220), Scott Broadwell (76-74-71—221), Alan Fame (75-72-76—223) and Chuck Reeve (74-76-74—224). Harris, 66, of Missouri City won the Super Senior Division for golfers 65-and-up. Harris fired a 5-under-par 67, the low round of the Super Senior Division, to post a 2-shot come-fron-behind victory over Bert Rogers of The Woodlands. Harris, who carded six birdies and only one bogey on Sunday, shot 79-72-67 for a 2-over-par 218 total. Rogers, who led the first two rounds, shot 73-71-76—220 to finish a stroke in front of Joe White of Pasadena (76-72-73).
