ORLANDO, Fl -- The University of Houston Women's Golf team rallied from six strokes behind to capture the UCF Challenge hosted by Eagle Crest Golf Club.
The Cougars were the most consistent team in the field, posting three straight rounds of 7-over 295 for a total of 885 and a one-shot victory over Tulane University.
Senior Raegan Bremer and sophomore Yuka Kajiki were huge in the comeback effort, each firing 1-under par 71s in cold and windy final-round conditions. Bremer was the low for the team, finishing a tie for 6th place.
"Over the last three years, we’ve talked about how it can come down to one shot, and that’s how it unfolded," Houston Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell told UH Athletics. "This was a great championship for us and a great teaching moment for our ladies.”
The individual title went to East Carolina’s Frida Gustafsson Spang who fired rounds of 73,62, and 72 for a 3-under par total. She was the only player in the field to break par for the event.
