Home course knowledge vaults Kerr and Parker to Champions Cup

Keith Kerr and Michael Parker lifted the Champions Cup at their home club after an impressive total score of 18-under par. The duo took control in the middle two rounds of the event. After a pedestrian one-under 70 in the first round, Kerr and Parker turned on the afterburners and shot 64 in the second round and a 63 in the third round.

Those middle two rounds were highlighted by matching scores of 31 on the front nine, marked by eagles on the par five fifth hole both days. It meant Kerr and Parker held a three shot leads heading into the final day. In second place lurked the defending champions, John Hunter and Brad Segreto; they were hoping to make a move and catch Kerr and Parker. They couldn't get any momentum early in the round and shot a closing 74.

The final round started on shaky footing for the leaders, as Kerr and Parker could only manage a double bogey on the second hole in the best ball format. They bounced back with birdies on the third, fifth, and ninth holes.

Kevin O'Brien and Matt Vogt started the final round five shots behind Kerr and Parker. At the turn, their 33 helped shrink the lead to three shots with nine holes left to play.

However, they couldn't cut any further into the lead and finished tied for second place at 15-under par with the Herbie Aikens and Matt Parziale.
