Last year's winning duo of Hall and Trocchio shot 71 in Friday's opening round.
Overall, 16 teams are within five shots of Holmes and Costa.
The 54-hole four-ball event attracts players from as far as Maine and takes place at the beautiful Cuscowilla Resort on the shores of Georgia's Lake Oconee.
