Harder Hall Women's Invitational: August Kim grabs lead

Purdue University junior August Kim fires 4-under 68 to grab the third round lead by one over Jessica Porvasnik of Ohio State

SEBRING, Florida (Jan. 8, 2015) -- Friday’s third round of the 61st Harder Hall Women’s Invitational was delayed by heavy rain with the leaders finishing their rounds just before darkness set in. The tournament is being played at the tight and demanding 6,142-yard, par-72 Harder Hall Country Club, which has been playing longer because of the rains that have saturated the area.

The Harder Hall Women's Invitational is the first event on the 2016 AmateurGolf.com "Majors of Women's Amateur Golf" calendar.

August Kim, a junior on the Purdue University women’s golf team from St. Augustine, Florida, seized the lead today with a sizzling 4- under par 68, for a three-day total of 2-under 214. Second-round leader Jessica Porvasnik -- a junior at Ohio State -- started the day at 3-under but struggled to a 74 and is one-shot back at 1-under 215.

In 2015, Kim was 41st in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings, while Porvasnik was 138th. Both have had solid performances almost everywhere they have teed it up, with Kim winning the 2014 Women's Trans National Championship.

Lori Beth Adams carded a 70 and is alone at 216 heading into the final round while a quartet of players: Linn Andersson, Kelly Grassel, Alex Wright, and first-round leader Diane Lim are tied at 217, and definitely within striking distance.
