Haeran Ryu goes low at Women’s NSW Amateur

The Women's NSW Amateur includes 72-holes of stroke-play over the course of three days before the top 16 move to match play

TERREY HILLS, New South Wales (January 30, 2017) -- On day one one of the Women’s New South Wales stroke-play, it was the juggernaut that is the Korean Women’s Golf Team that kept rolling along at Terrey Hills Golf Club. Although the Terrey Hills layout doesn’t have an officially recognized women’s course record, the 8-under-par 64 effort by Haeran Ryu would certainly qualify as one of the lowest scores ever shot on the Graham Marsh designed course. Ryu isn’t quite alone at the top of the leaderboard, her teammates Hyun Kyung Park and Hyejin Choi, the Australian Women’s Amateur Champion, sit two shots adrift in a tie for second place. The Avondale Women’s Amateur Champion Ga Young Lee had a relatively quiet (by her standards) 4-under-par 68. Alongside her is the best of the local contingent, Coolangatta Tweed Heads Rebecca Kay.
