Champions Retreat Golf Club of Evans leads Dalton Golf and Country Club by one stroke after the opening round of the 19th annual Georgia Team Championship

STATHAM, GA (Oct. 29, 2011) -- Champions Retreat Golf Club of Evans leads Dalton Golf and Country Club by one stroke after the opening round of the 19th annual Georgia Team Championship, taking place October 29-30 at The Georgia Club. Champions Retreat shot 10-under-par 134, while Dalton sits at 9-under 135. The Club at River Forest of Forsyth (-8), Cherokee Town and Country Club of Atlanta (-7) and Hamilton Mill Golf Club of Dacula (-7) fill out the top five. The Red and Black nines are being used at The Georgia Club, which is playing to 6,896 yards and a par 72. Twenty-six teams of four men each representing GSGA Member Clubs are competing over 36 holes for the title. The first round was 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, with the team’s two scores combining for the team total. The final round, which gets underway Sunday at 9:30 a.m. (shotgun), will be individual stroke play, with the best three of four 18-hole scores combining as the team score.
