Gene Elliott wins Iowa Senior Match Play

Elliott never saw the 17th or 18th holes during match play at the Tournament Club of Iowa, and that was probably fine with him

POLK CITY, Iowa (June 4, 2016) – Gene Elliott never had to play the 17th or 18th holes during match play at the IGA Senior Match Play Championship, held June 2-4 at the Tournament Club of Iowa. Elliott captured the title with a 4&3 victory over Rob Christensen in the finals. He won his second match play championship in as many years at TCI, as he was victorious at the IGA Match Play Championship last June. All in all, Elliott's closest match was a 3&2 victory over Matt Steddom in the quarterfinal round. He defeated Mike Gaul 7&6 in round one, then ousted Pat Ryan 4&3 in the round of 16, Steddom in the quarters, Tom Schill 6&5 in the semifinals, then Christensen in the finals. Jamie Blackburn won the President's Bracket with a 3&1 win over Bob Hartzler in the final match.
