Fryatt, Tereshko lead Crane Cup after opening day

PALM CITY, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2018) – Two weeks removed from his hometown city championship, Edward Fryatt finds himself atop another leaderboard. After one round at the Crane Cup across the country at the Floridian, Fryatt is tied for the first-round lead with Justin Tereshko.

Fryatt, who also reached U.S. Mid-Amateur match play earlier this fall, ultimately finished third at the Las Vegas City Amateur despite an opening 9-under 63 at Las Vegas Golf Club. On Friday at the Floridian, his opening 4-under 67 left him close to the pack.

For his part, Tereshko is in the field after a light fall competition schedule. He just wrapped up the fall season at Louisville, where he started this year as an assistant coach.

Neither Fryatt nor Tereshko played this event a year ago. The two men lead Rob Couture by a single shot. Daniel Young and Philip Lee are tied for fourth at 2-under 69.

A six-man tie for sixth at 1-under 70 includes Missouri golf legend Skip Berkmeyer and defending Crane Cup champion Derek Busby.

Matt Parziale, the 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, had a round of even-par 71 as is tied for 12th.

In the senior division, Mike McCoy has a slim lead after a 1-under 70. Jack Hall and Brady Exber, another top Las Vegas player, are tied for second at even par.
