Freeh, Humphrey share U.S. Senior Challenge Lead

Alabama Team 2 is leading the way in the team standings by seven shots

BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 7, 2017) - With 18-holes remaining at the U.S. Senior Challenge Invitational hosted by Pine Tree Country Club the 1-under lead belongs to Tim Freeh and Steve Humphrey. Freeh moved into the lead following a second round 2-under 70 that included three birdies and a bogey. The birdies came in succession on Nos. 9-11. Humphrey is apart of the top spot on the leaderboard after carding a 1-under 71 on day two. The day for Humphrey included four birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey. Humphrey's double-bogey came on the 14th hole but he was able to rebound with birdies on the 16th and 18th holes. First round co-leader Joey Holley, Steve Hudson and Bev Hargraves are tied for third at even-par while in sixth it is the 1-over Richard Jeffers. TEAM STANDINGS The team standings are being dominated by Alabama Team 2 and at 1-over they lead by seven shots over Alabama Team 1 (+8). Alabama Team 2 received contributing rounds from Joey Holley (E), Richard Jeffers (+1) and Robert Parmar (+3). Oklahoma is a distant third at 17-over, Michigan at 21-over is fourth while 22-over Kentucky is fifth. ROUND ONE RECAP Joey Holley carded a 2-under 70 on Tuesday at the U.S. Senior Challenge Invitational hosted by Pine Tree Country Club to take a one shot lead after the first round. Holley started his round on the 11th hole and after his 13th hole of the day he was 1-over for the round. However, in golf things can change quickly and they certainly did for Holley as he carded birdies on Nos. 6, 7 and 8 to reach 2-under and the top of the leaderboard. Following the run of three birdies in four holes Holley parred his final hole of the day to sign for a four birdie, two bogey round. Four players --Robert Parmar, Cyrus Whitney, Bev Hargraves and Mike Brummer-- are all tied for second at 1-under while an additional five players are sharing sixth at even-par. TEAM STANDINGS In the team standings Alabama Team 2 is 3-under and leading the race by seven shots. Each team includes four players with the top-three scores counting for the team tally. On Tuesday Alabama Team 2 received scores from leader Joey Holley (-2), Robert Parmer (-1) and Richard Jeffers (E). Alabama Team 1 (+4) is in second place and Oklahoma (+5) is third.
