Former Seattle Mariner Erik Hansen wins Seattle Amateur

Once a pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization, Hanson is now a very competitive amateur golfer -- he won by two shots over a highly competitive field

SEATTLE, Wa. (July 4, 2015) — Erik Hanson has made the transition from professional baseball player to amateur golfer with a big win today at the Seattle Amateur. Once a pitcher in the Seattle Mariners organization, Hanson is now an avid amateur golfer and member of the famed Sahalee Golf Club. After posting the low round of the tournament -- a 62 at Jackson on Thursday -- Hanson followed with a 71 at Jefferson on Friday and another 71 today at West Seattle. That was good for a 2-shot win over University of Washington golfer Greg Gildea and Andrew Whalen, who plays for Northwestern.
