KENNESAW, Ga. (August 1, 2014) — After sharing the lead at the Georgia Open, Kennesaw State University golfer Jimmy Beck shot 73 on Friday to fall four back of the lead, hold now by mini-tour professional Eddie Lee.
Lee shot a second-round 66 and leads the other first-round co-leader Jay McLuen by three shots.
The top-10 is littered with amateurs, including Beck's teammate Kelby Burton, who has fired rounds of 70 and 68 to put himself in a tie for second with McLuen and Matt Nagy.
Mercer University freshman Emmanuel Kountakis is alone in 9th place at three-under par, while 17-year-old Jonathan Keppler and a third Kennesaw State golfer, Jonathan Klotz, are tied for tenth place at two-under.
Beck won last year's Georgia State Amateur at Pinetree Country Club — the site of this year's Georgia Open.
